5th Annual World Wide Balloon & Butterfly Release
Sunday, December 3, 2006
Celebrating the Lives of our Children

What began as a butterfly/balloon release on Maui for four mothers united in grief recovery has 'Growwn' into a wonderful celebration of unity and fellowship. Last year we had hundreds of participants, and we invite you to join us again this year. On this wonderful day of unity, we will join together in celebration of and to honor and remember the lives of our children. Every December 3rd, families across the world unite, releasing balloons and/or butterflies in celebration of the lives of the children who have gone before us. This is not a sad day, but a day when we gather around the world to fellowship with one another and celebrate the love we share with our children. Please join us on December 3, this and every year, in celebration of their lives.

We are asking for the names of the children since we will be reciting all of them.

Max's Mom, Cecilia will be reciting the names in Santa Barbara, overlooking the Pacific Ocean and Channel Islands. Mikey's Mom (MauiMama) Diane Heyerdahl will be reciting the names from atop Maui's volcano Haleakala.

There will then be small, environmentally sound balloon or butterfly releases from both locations, in memory of and in celebration of the lives of all of our children.

Add Your Child To The List / How to Participate:
Each participant family adds their child's name to the list of those being remembered (an updated list for 2006 will be available Dec. 2, 2006), and sends up a balloon, butterfly, or releases lady bugs from their own respective location. Each child is remembered in name recitals occurring at sunrise overlooking the Pacific Ocean and Channel Islands in Santa Barbara, California and from the top of Maui's volcano, Haleakala, on Dec. 03, as well as name recitals at various locations across the world.

For parents who have lost children:
Please add your child's full name, your name, and location you will be sending your balloon(s)/butterfly from, by emailing maxzmom@balloonrelease.com

If your child's name does not appear on the 2006 list please send Cecilia an email to maxzmom@balloonrelease.com. The list will be double checked and updated prior to the name recital, and a revised 2006 list of all names recited will appear by Christmas.

NEW YEAR'S WISHES FOR BEREAVED PARENTS

To the newly bereaved: We wish you patience - patience with
yourselves in the painful weeks, months, even years ahead.

To the bereaved sibling: We wish you and your parents a new
understanding of each other's needs and the beginnings of good
communication.

To those who are single parents: We wish you the inner resources we know you will need to cope, often alone with your loss.

To those experiencing marital difficulties after the death of your
child: We wish you a special willingness and ability to communicate
with each other.

To those who have suffered the death of more than one child: We wish you the endurance you will need to fight your way back to a
meaningful life once again.

To those of you who have experienced the death of an only child or of all your children: We offer you our eternal gratitude for serving as
such an inspiration to the rest of us.

To those of you who are plagued with guilt: We wish you the
reassurances that you did the very best you could under the
circumstances, and that your child knew that.

To those of you who are deeply depressed: We wish you the first
steps out of the "Valley of the Shadow".

To all fathers and those of you unable to cry: We wish you healing
tears and the ability to express your grief.

To those of you who are exhausted from grieving: We wish you the
strength to face just one more hour, just one more day.

To all others with special needs that we have not mentioned: We wish you the understanding you need and the assurance that you are loved.

From a speech by Former TCF President, Joe Rousseau. Taken from the January, 1999, TCF Houston-West chapter newsletter
